    Responsibilities

    • Liaise with Production to understand the forthcoming bookings within Scheduall. Review the work order and technical specification to fully understand the requirements of the scheduled jobs.
    • Participate in pre-production meetings, answering basic queries on workflows and assisting with pre-edit/pre-DI tests. Understand how to and competently handle source data e.g. Arri Alexa, Sony F65/F55 and Red R3D files.
    • Support the Flame and Baselight Editors and Graders to plan and implement Digital Acquisition/Film pipeline workflows for the post production process. Setup colour management for film and digital pipelines.
    • Project manage source and rendered data using Linux, Windows and Mac OS, using command line scripts where appropriate. Liaise with Engineering Department to develop script/databases to manage data conforms.  Assist with the back-up and archiving of Baselight and Flame project metadata.
    • Prepare soft-locked and locked timelines, add optical, VFX, main and end titles, apply basic grades, performs quality checks to ensure the conform adheres to Broadcast standards. Complete data conforms, editing and primary color correction for Broadcast delivery using Baselight or Flame.  Assist VFX artists with compositing, rotoscoping and matte generation.
    • Complete playouts of digital material to HD tape formats. Create digital files e.g. .mxf, .mov, .edl, .tif. Format and output files in accordance with Studio and Broadcaster TX delivery specifications. Assist the Colorists to create deliverables and complete the final QC of rendered data.  Support client-attended grades and run client attend VFX reviews and sign offs where required.
    • Complete the appropriate documentation accurately prior to handing to Dispatch or other Operational departments. Update the media record on Scheduall, entering all relevant details accurately.
    • Learn, understand and adhere to Technicolor's workflows and procedures relating to Broadcast. Proactively update knowledge of Grading and Editing hardware and software, as well as keeping up to date on Grading and Editing techniques and the latest technical/workflow developments within the industry. Make suggestions to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness.
    • Investigate any technical issues and take corrective action as necessary, documenting good working practices. Generate and maintain detailed operational documentation and workflows with Operations and Production. Adhere to Technicolor's policies and standards for all operational areas.  Understand and adhere to all security protocols as required within all facilities.
    • Contribute proactively to team meetings and act as an ambassador when representing Grading and Editing outside the department.

     

    Qualifications

     

    Knowledge and Experience

    • Knowledgeable about SD and HD tape formats and standards, digital acquisition formats, encoding and transcoding methods and formats, compression file formats and operating systems
    • Knowledgeable about 4k, UHD, HDR and SDR workflows, as well as , Digital Cinema and Broadcast delivery formats, calibration and running DCP projection, stereo3D imaging and Editorial workflows (offline and online)
    • Previous experience of using any of the following: Framelogic, Avid, Flame, Lustre, Smoke or Baselight or of grading / editing techniques
    • Creative flair and passion for the theatrical and broadcast industry
    • Flexible approach to work (able to work ad hoc weekends, nights and additional hours as required)
