Pipeline VFX Developer

Technicolor UK is looking for a VFX pipeline specialist, able to work in a diverse and highly agile environment, at the elite level of Studio Feature VFX production.

Candidates must be natural problem solvers who understand the criticality of service uptime and client service environments. Must be able to work as part of a team, to deliver creative and efficient pipeline solution for a growing VFX department.

This will include but will not be limited to pipeline development and execution, engaging in cross department communication, providing solutions to critical path issues, and creating documentation. In addition, you’ll help develop new process and innovative solutions to bring Technicolor’s artistry to the next level



  • Determine the broad technical and creative approach, in conjunction with the Head of Technology, Supervisor, Production and Technical leads
    ● Provide support to the VFX departments and to the Productions in the smooth running of tasks through our pipeline
    ● Build and maintain the pipeline with an emphasis on supporting the flow of our processes between Maya/Houdini/Nuke and Shotgun.
    ● Create facility based or show based scripts and tools
    ● Communicate successes and challenges faced by the team to the Head of Technology or Technical Director
    ● Provide support for artists in learning and using the pipeline
    ● Be an additional point of support for shot based issues, alongside leads and supervisors
    ● Act as a liaison for communicating technical issues to IT/Systems
    ● Use time management skills to schedule tasks effectively



  • 2+ years’ experience as a Pipeline TD in the VFX industry or closely related
    ● A degree or equivalent in Computer Graphics, Computer Science or other related course
    ● Ability to balance quick turnaround while achieving a high degree of technical quality
    ● Show self-motivation, delivering solutions either as an individual or part of a team



Technical skills

  • Experience of Python and shell scripting is required. PyQt/PySide, C or C++ is a plus
    ● Proactive, very meticulous and accurate in your coding and documentation.
    ● Experience with Linux is required
  • Experience with Shotgun, Shotgun Development and Shotgun Toolkit Development.
    ● Knowledge of developing software integration tools for Maya, Nuke, Houdini, and others.
    ● Experience building software (SConstruct, CMake, Git)

● Team oriented with good communication skills, able to work closely with artists
